You will start by mastering the fundamentals of exposure, lighting characteristics, and the three-point lighting system, alongside advanced tools like light meters and zebra stripes tied to the Ansel Adams Zone system. From there, you will dive into manual camera settings, balancing the Exposure Triangle while calculating the exact relationship between frame rates (FPS) and shutter speed. You will explore critical hardware choices, studying focal length distortions, lens filters, high-bit-rate memory card selection, and professional audio gear.
The curriculum expands into advanced visual aesthetics, where you will analyze histograms, white balance, framing rules, and specialized picture profiles including Log, Rec. 709, and HLG. Finally, the course provides practical industry blueprints, guiding you through multi-camera angles, lens adapter usage, and corrective measures for common filming mistakes. You will finish with essential consumer skills, learning exactly how to buy and maintain new or used camera equipment while exploring the future landscape of professional digital cinematography.
Students will have access to our state-of-the-art studio floor and will participate in weekly field trips to varied locations around Kathmandu to practice natural light photography.
